Here are some more examples of quantifiable language-learning objectives that can be turned into good SMART goals:
I will meet with a language tutor 2 times a week
I will participate in a language exchange once a week
I will respond to the daily speaking prompts for 1 month
I will record myself, listen to my errors and work on improving my grammar and pronunciation
I will read out loud for 20 minutes a day and focus on improving my pronunciation
I will listen to an English podcast during my commute
I will watch one episode of an English TV series before bed 3 times a week
I will do the listening activities in the B2 First / C1 Advanced Telegram channels and review the Transcripts to understand my errors and learn new vocabulary
I will transcribe 2 minutes of audio twice a week and compare my work to the transcript
I will listen to the radio for half an hour 3 times a week and write down any numbers and dates I hear
I will read the news only in English and I will add any repeated, new vocabulary to my flashcards
I will read three pages from a novel before bed each night
I will read an article and discuss it with a language partner or tutor once a week
I will read articles or news in English during my lunch break at work
I will keep a daily journal in English and I will spend 30 minutes each night writing in it
For 1 month, I will write a 150-word response to a daily writing prompt and then submit my work on iTalki for corrections
I will spend 20 minutes a day texting a language exchange partner who corrects my mistakes on Hello Talk
I will study grammar for 1 hour each day by doing exercises out of my grammar book. I will check the answer key to understand my mistakes. I will do supplementary exercises when I struggle with concepts
I will review flashcards every day for 30 minutes. I will learn 5 more words each day
I will spend 20 minutes writing paraphrases
